After his success with “Abigail’s Party” (which is reviewed below), Harry Medawar returned to direct our summer 2009 production of Shelagh Stephenson’s The Memory of Water.
Harry described the play - which was the winner of the Olivier Award for Best Comedy in 2000 - as an uplifting black comedy about love and longing, dreams and secrets. In the depths of winter, three sisters meet up to arrange the burial of their mother and the sale of her home on the coast before it and the many memories it holds are washed away.
The production dates were Wednesday - Saturday 17 - 20 June and the play was staged in the main auditorium of the Hampton Hill Playhouse.
